Our Mosques Are Damaging Islam Print E-mail
Thursday, 22 May 2008
mosque.jpgThe Ummah is in utter decay. You know it. I know it. We all know it. But the question is this: with so many so-called religious leaders and with so many mosques why is it that the poison of apathy that courses through our veins hasn’t been purged? Why is it that when we see so much injustice around us we do not stand up to the oppressor? The reason is because our Mosques are damaging Islam – and don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise.
From a young age onwards we are supposedly taught about the Beloved Prophet's (pbuh) life and yet we remain unaffected - the reason is because our mosque leaders never talk about the real issues that face the Ummah.

You’ll hear 700 talks on wudhu before you finally find one that actually explains the situation, and even then it’ll be a pie-in-the-sky talk that doesn’t really address the issues but instead will give the Muslim audience a cheap spiritual high.

And because these talks are the norm, we grow up in an environment where we want to satisfy our fix of cheap spiritual highs by going to more meaningless talks and we’re taught about this pseudo-piety, where caring for yourself is more important than caring for the Ummah and more important than helping the oppressed.

Think about it this way - when a Muslim seeks his or her Lord and is taught more about the permissibility of nail varnish, the correct length of trousers and all other manner of ritual obligations but, when is asked about what they have done for the oppressed and downtrodden of this world, they cannot reply. They cannot reply without it sounding like an excuse or a lie and then you know – you just know – that the teachers of the faith no longer know Allah or how to reach Him.

They have made light into darkness and called it Islam. They destroyed the very people they were teaching and made them into selfish people chasing a god who never asked of them any real pain or sacrifice to establish justice.

In short they destroyed the Muslims more effectively than the enemies of Islam ever could because they are damaging Islam from within.

The mosques that were once beacons of light are now nothing more than black holes where all good is sucked out and only darkness remains.

Just as when ivy covers a tree it starves the tree of nutrients, kills it and then you have just ivy in the form of a tree without anything inside it, similarly our mosque leaders have starved our institutions and now we have corrupt emptiness that appears in the form of a mosque.

But the mosque is meant to be more - so much more and it is only through reviving the mosques can we help to change the situation of the Ummah for the better.

Of course, Islam can't be destroyed, but we're going about it the right way if it ever would be.

If you want to learn more about the Role of the Mosque in our communities and the methodology of reviving the mosques for a brighter future then come along to our free event:

Very interesting comments indeed! Real goodness only seems achievable when people look outwards, not inward. Like the author says, if we spend all day worrying about whether or not such-and-such daily item is haram, where is the love for our brothers and sisters?

The true light of faith can shine when we're less worried about what we're doing to ourselves and becoming solipsistically focused on our own purity, compared to when we're truly selfless and giving.

Do we dare to right wrongs without violence, take back the meaning of jihad from all the brothers who are more interested in fighting Americans than bandaging up wounded Palestinians? Do we curse the darkness or work for the light? Practical good or angry rhetoric. People will be infinitely more won over to the cause if they see muslims working for a better world on a peaceful, practical level than if all they hear is calls for killing jews, americans and kafirs!

A Islamic regulatory framework must be established where the UK wide governing body gives code of practice to all UK Mosques. All mosques should follow all the topics in sequence. This should create Standardisation. For example, if the mosque in Glasgow is talkinig about Iraq then the Mosque in Lonodn should also be talkinig about the issues in Iraq etc.

This creates Standardisation.
This creates solidarity
This creates a United Stand
This creates a United Single Islamic UK body.
This enables measurement as to what kind of Islamic education is being to the Muslims, Nation-wide.

How we do achieve this ?

We get the government involved, who enforces all mosques to be memebers of this framework. However what aspects of Islam is to be taught remains purely at the discretion of the muslim leaders. Members Vote in the governing body which Islamic topics will be covered.

The creation of a Islamic University, exclusively for Muslims should never be ruled out for an option.

In fact, the establishment of a UK Islamic University would be the best option ever, instead of trying to go about changing these mosques.

With so much Wealth amongst the Muslim community in UK, I dont see how finances would be an issue.

Those who want to get away from the radical mosques etc, the Islamic university would be the solution.

An Islamic university whose teachings are in equvialent to the standards of teachings in Saudi Arabia.

If we want more empowerment, more influence, to be understood, to have Islamic leaders, in Britain or gloablly, then Britain needs a Islamic university.

Of course their will be "evils" in every community who would go against, this, or typically the same old rherotic, "go back to your country" or go to a "muslim country", these small minded opinons are everywhere dont fear them at any cost. Dont ever buy into these types of small minded spokes, their everywhere. If its not your religion, then its your skin color, if its not your skin then its your culture etc, the strategy they deploy is the "blame factor" strategy as I call it.

What I can't understand is who said that Allah can only be workshiped in a mosue????

There are so many mosques that a muslim would be hard pressed not to be able to find one to read his daily salah.

Re:Jammy

The Mosque provides a united front in the context of prayer, it stimulates solidarity. Every relgion has focus point, where members meet collobrate and pray etc. Like the Buddists pray in temple etc

Jammy, you need to get an Islamic education, not for the sake of JUST understanding what Muslims in the UK are about, but for the SAKE of Knowledge and
widening your own mental horizons. An Islamic education would give you more context as to why things are done in the way they are done, instead of just digesting the rheortic from the Daily newspapers like the SUN, Daily Mirror etc

Apparently the Daily Mirror, SUN, and Mail have the largest average circulation in the UK, in comparison to other UK newspapers.

This basically highlights a very powerful point, that most people in the UK, who have some typically negative perception or understanding about ISLAM, is highly likely to have developed that perception from these 3 newspapers.

You want to know who are the players in the MEDIA ? its these 3 papers. They shape the mindsets of your michaels and Davids, and Jimmys in the UK. So hence the michaels, Davids etc then think they UNDERSTAND Islam, and they act in Self Belief that they can then OPINONATE.

Also their anger is probably related from the rheortic they have read in these 3 newspapers.

We are all victims of the Goverment SPIN. The Muslims and the non muslims, while someone else capitalises on the differences. Its a SPIN

My dear mohsin thank you for your valued opinions as to my shortcommings and how I may improve myself. I hope that your duah is heard and answered by allah (swt).

However, you have not answered my question as to who said that Allah can only be worshiped in a mosque. Although I am aware that the sunnah of the holy prophet (pbuh) encourages muslims to read their salah in a mosque rather than at home.

Ordinarily I would support a mosque being built but I do understand the point that mpacuk has bravely taken up that mosques are divisive. We even have mosques named after certain sects when the holy quran clearly instructs muslims to be not be divided amongst themselves.

Some muslims point out that our holy prophet (pbuh) even said that there will be so many sects and divisions in the ummah to come and yet even that does not mean that we should allow ourselves to be divided or consign ourselves to belonging to sects rather than mainstream Islam.

Every concerned Muslim for his Deen is naturally not going to like how many of our current masjids are run but at the same time we shud be cautious when we hear these “urgent” slogans for “Mosque reform”.

There is a battle for hearts and minds in this current waged war on Islam – an ideological war - refer to the recent beneficial lecture done by Sh Anwar al Awlaki – its posted on ur forum – citing certain think tank reports (funded by the US military) published several; years back in pursuit to in effect CHANGE Islam itself.

One of those RAND Corporation reports talks about policy makers to:

“Foster Madrasha and Mosque reform”

^^in a nutshell to empower uncle tom -“Mullah Bradley’s” in the years and decades to come within our Mosques - in order to control what is taught to Muslims in their objective of creating “RAND Muslims” –to us simply - secularist apostates.

All these Masjids and institutions will inevitably fall into the hands of the YOUTH – youth who practice Islam as it shud be in the years to come (and this is what we shud be working towards) who can then use these Masjids/facilites to revive Islam and spread Islam effectively, remember:

OLD MEN IN MASJIDS DO NOT LIVE FOREVER.

^^this is something that policy makers and the fifth column within the Muslim community – the secularist apostates recognize and realize – this is why u hear these super “urgent” calls for "Masjid reforms" from certain quarters to such an extent even calls for >>>government involvement<<< - and this is precisely the agenda.

Nothing wrong with people praying at home.

Quite a few mosques preach negativity, and from reading some of the above comments, I would say that those who are against people praying at home, fear they may lose control over the moderate muslims who do not enjoy the negativity preached within some mosques.

Typical Mpac...you mentioned Jahil. Let me tell you what Jahil is:

It is when someone years ago, went and tried to build another mosque, right near the mosque Muhammad (SAW) built and Muhammad ordered to be pulled down and destroyed.

Why? because the reason behind why that person was building it. To cause fitna, divisions between the Ummah and then propagate the rubbish, the attack on Islam and the minds of people against the true Islam, the Islam Muhammad (SAW) was preaching and living.

Now, let's look today in our city. Walk and you see one mosque. Walk another few minutes and on your right another mosque where only Arabs go. Go further, just a few yards, another one, where all Pakistanis go. Go further, and not far, just up a hill, is another one for Somali's.

THAT'S JAHIL. That's the CRIME! That's how ridicolous our so called community Muslim pathetic leaders are.

YES! The Mosques are DAMAGING OUR UMMAH, OUR COMMUNITIES AND MENTALLY, AND SPIRITUALLY!

get a grip and see the truth of it all and learn your history.

Muhammad (SAW) would NEVER allowed two or three mosques in same area! He knew it would divide Muslims.

News for you - IT HAS today!
