"We're not living in a police state," insists Tony Blair towards the end of the film. But as Taking Liberties all too clearly demonstrates, we're well on the way there... Tonight on More4, 10pm. Readers have left 5 comments.

Must be true then, said Pinocchio. ("Pinocchio: Tale of a Puppet" by Carlo Collodi.)

I watched "Taking Liberties". I was revolted to see police taking action against absolutely harmless small pacifistic groups of protesters, arresting and detaining them. What was actually revolting was to contrast this police behaviour with their reaction to events outside Westminster Cathedral or the Danish Embassy, with jihadis mouthing loud murderous threats. Pacifists are a safer target than jihadis. I want the police to protect me against jihadis, not pacifists.

A revealing and entertaining look at the shocking number of
government attacks on civil liberties since the New Labour government
took power in 1997.
