Public Accountability: Why Does Your Spokesperson Not Have a Beard! Print E-mail
Saturday, 26 April 2008

287763_beauty_of_writing.jpgAssalamu alaykum, I have seen an individual by the name of Asghar Bukhari representing the UK muslims on various ocassions. The only issue I have is that he doesn't look like a Muslim - so why does he want to represent them?

FYI - Abu Hurayrah ra reported that the ruler of Yemen, appointed by the Persian emperor Kisra, sent two envoys to the Messenger !. When they came into his presence, he noticed that they had shaved their beards and let their moustaches grow big. Hating their ugly appearance, he turned his face away and said, “Woe be to you, who told you to do so?” They replied: “Our lord (Kisra) did!”

The Messenger ! responded: “But my Lord, exalted and glorified be He, has commanded me to spare my beard and trim my moustaches.” [Recorded by Ibn Jarir at-Tabari, Ibn Sa’d, and Ibn Bishran]

wassalaam

MPACUK Note: MPACUK are one of the only Muslim organisations that are both accountable to the public and demand accountability to the public of other groups. So we pride ourselves in allowing the great Muslim public holding us accountable. Here a brother writes in upset that one of our spokesman does not have a beard (please note some of the others do).

We hope that Muslims will one day learn that Muslim leaders are accountable to them, and questions them to their satisfaction - only then will the Mosque tyrants and thugs be kicked out and intelligent men replace them, ISOC emirs will be the best amongst us and not the most ignorant but able to quote a lot, and Muslims will get the leadership they finally deserve.

I have a beard. But my beard is a French beard. So although I am a Muslim, Muslims suspect me of being a Qadiyani Murtid ( especially in the British context ) which I am not.
Hey, I just have a French beard because I am too lazy to shave not because I like the French (or the Qadiyanis). Moreover, I cannot be bothered to grow a full "sunni" beard.

The beard is a sunnah not just of our beloved, last and final Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) but of all Prophets before him from Adam to Jesus.

However, in the undue emphasis on appearances in the Muslim community, how many of us pt the sunnah, the itra and the legacy of our Holy Prophet to shame by the superficialty of those beards.

Appearances are only skin deep and can be deceptive.

This is evident when one looks at the Satanic Sufi Muslim Council and the rest of the MI-5 sponsored "moderate Muslim" Zionist perverts nearly all of whom have grown long beards in their worship of Iblees.

Does Asghar Bukhari's missing beard affect his duty to serve Islam?

Is a Muslim who grows a long beard and supports Israel and Iblees absolved from his sins because of his beard?

These are the questions that need to be answered by the Muslim community instead of following the agenda of MI-5 about criticising Muslims for not having beards...

There is no denying the fact that growing beard is the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and we should not shave it.

However, such criticism at this time when Muslims are facing far more serious challenges, one is reminded two events from Islamic history. 1) When Hulagu attacked Baghdad in 1258, instead of defending the city the ulema were debating whether a crow is halal or haram. 2) As a result of severe punishment by flogging for his oppsition to the Mu’tazilites, Imam Hanbal was bleedig profusely. Even in such a condition the great scholar did not forget his prayer and performed it at the right time. But instead of standing to Caliph Mansoor's brutality the ulema of the day started debating whether his prayer was acceptable or not

The key question is did the prophet (pbuh) institute a new dress code. Did God consider dress code as a distinguishing feature for the muslims.

Not too sure of the answer but I suspect that the early muslims dressed the same as their Meccan rivals and that dress was not a distingushing feature. It was their God consciousness that was the distinguishing feature.

What is religion if it does not make you a better person. Shariati (I know he was Shia) said that Religion is the factory that produces man. If that man is a miserable as some of the beardies then there is no religion in them.

God I despair at the level of debate that we are confronted with in our communities. No wonder that lots of youngsters are finding refuge away from the mosque

So is someone with a beard to be considered a good Muslim? There are many Muslims that I have seen who looked the part of being a good Muslim, they had everything including beard etc... but it was their actions and lack of sincere piety that disappointed me most. I now no longer consider or judge a muslim or anyone else on appearance alone but rather on their actions.

The beard is a sunnah if you keep one you will be rewarded,if you do not you are missing out on gaining more good deeds.
Other than that i have seenk sikhs with big beards and i am sure that does not make them muslims.

What a load of nonsense from people like shan.
Keeping a hairy face is one of his chosen signs of a good deed?
Getting your chopper trimmed another of your finest deeds for humanity?
Worth the Islamic equivalent of a knighthood?
I think not.

This sums up the level of intelligence within our religion, that despite being Islam being attacked in the most vicious and sophisticated ways, our people have not come out of the caveman syndrome.

The writer is too stupid for words. His fixation on appearance typifies the short sightedness of so many Muslims. Dwell on the minutae and forget about the big issues.

Excellent thats why we should have Sikhs running all muslim organisations as they look more muslim than muslims.

What a buffoon the writer is: beard is Sunnah? Well, living in England is NOT 'Sunnah'.

Nor is watching TV; flying in aeroplanes; driving cars; eating margarine; using microwaves; using telephones; wearing synthetic fibres; using computers.

Better head for Arabia then, and take your beard with you.

Oh, but wait a minute: the bearded fools want to leer at nearly-naked women. So I think they'll hang around in the West!

The reason the brotherhas asked about the beard issue is according to most scholars it is a wajib (obligation- sinful if you don't do it) and some hold it to be mandub. If it is considered an obligation, then you would expect a muslim who has dawa and speaks for islam to have a beird, as you would expect him to be practicing....what non-practicing muslim can be a leader of muslims??? who would trust him???

but if the brother follows the opinion that it isn't obligitary and just mandhub, then that is fine.... he should just say it

Assalamu alaikum,

Who are you to categorise what are the major and minor issues in Islam for us based on your own desires? Clear words from the hadith of the Prophet (saw), yet you still decide to reject it. Makes me wonder, what are your real objectives and ultimate aims?

I have to say MPAC is doing a very important job, and I do believe Asghar Bukhari has a genuine concern for this ummah and by giving each issue its due attention, we will be successful.

The Prophet (saw) said: Allaah does not look at the outward appearance or wealth of any one of you; rather he looks at your hearts and deeds.
And he also said: In the body there is a piece of flesh which if it sound, the entire body will be sound, and if it is corrupt, the entire body will be corrupt. Indeed it is the heart.
