Reported on Saudi newspaper AL-Watan, Israel pressured Google to remove all the images of Egyptian footballer Abu Trika showing his T-shirt with the text “Sympathize with Gaza” [also confirmed by Al-Arabiya…or you can do the search by yourself].Egyptian “Islamic Group” [Al Jamaa Al Islamiya] issued a rare statement, applauded Abu Trika action in an article called “Abu Trika…playing football or playing with fire” on their website, saying: I cried from joy because the young generation feels the scale of the tragedy experienced by their countries…. I cried and cried and cried because saying “Sympathize with Gaza” become a crime requires punishment….. Abu Trika, I salute you, you are an example for the youth… Algerian newspaper El Khabar interviewed Abu Trika [English]
I think it’s normal, I’ve expressed a feeling; a natural feeling of any Arab…and if you ask any Arab about what is happening to Palestinians and Gaza population he would tell you the same…

It has Not Been Removed...:

Assalaamu alaikum, apparently this is what Google had to say and the image is there, on Google, loads of them of the football player.
Every now and then a story surfaces that Google has ‘censored’ images or web pages and removed them from our site without saying a word to anyone. For example, we noticed some sites in the Middle East and beyond are asking about Egyptian striker Mohammad Aboutrika’s goal celebration during Egypt’s African Cup of Nations match against Sudan. After scoring the 3rd goal, Aboutrika revealed a t-shirt with the message ‘Sympathize with Gaza’. Well it turns out this image was difficult to find on images.google.com for the first few days after the match, and the story that’s gathered steam is that Google removed it. Some outlets said that this was under pressure from the Israeli government. First of all let’s put the story straight: we definitely didn’t do this. In fact from the very beginning you could find the image quite easily on YouTube and also on Google News. The reason for the delay in the image showing up on Google Images was that it can take a few days between when an image appears and when its crawled by the Googlebot, as explained here. It’s there now - you can find several copies of the image on a search for [Aboutrika] or [Aboutrika Gaza] quite easily. No-one from any government has contacted us about this image, and we have no reason to remove it. The Google EMEA Product Team

Assalaam walaikum and Greetings
This is something which I don't quite understand. One the one side, you see recent pictures and news of protesters showing sympathy to the Tibet cause against what they see as the brutal regime of China (human rights violations, being a bully, etc, etc). No one is censoring this (except the Chinese themselves within their homeland). On the other hand, if anyone shows sympathy to the (equally, if not more) brutal regime of Israel against the Palestinians then this gets censored by the likes of GOOGLE, etc. This stinks of nothing but double standards from the likes of GOOGLE and any other news outlet. They (Israel) can only do this because they have influential people in power and because they have cleverly convinced the entire world that the Palestinians are the terrorists despite the Palestinians being displaced from their own lands (occupied) and being terrorised by the IDF. Wasalaams and regards

If anyone states that Football is not a venue to make Political Statements then... It's worth mentioning that during the last world cup in Germany 2006 the Ghanaian player Pantsil has taken out from his socks and waved an Israeli flag in celebration of a goal he scored. Fifa (The international committee which controls the world cup games) has taken no action against the player and Israeli media have expressed their gratitude to the gesture of then Israeli team Haifa Hapoel's player'. HOW NICE TO SEE ISRAEL ADOPTING DOUBLE STANDARDS, but then again, it always does. You can read more of this on (link - remove spaces), or search "abu trika ccun" on GOOGLE. ww w. ccun. org / Opinion%20Editorials / 2008 / February / 11%20o / Israelis %20Angry %20at %20Egyptian %20Soccer %20Player, %20Muhammed %20Abu %20Trika, %20Google %20Removes %20his %20Famous %20Photo %20Displaying %20a %20Slogan %20of %20Sympathy %20with %20Gaza. htm

This is double standards from the African football association and FIFA along with Google and Ghana.
Pantsil a Ghanaian footballer waved the Israeli flag during the 2006 world cup there was no issue on censorship on political statements which has always been a FIFA rule. Ghana's football federation put it down to naivety. What is so naive about that statement? Google NO longer have the images on their site. WHAT'S HAPPENED TO FREE SPEECH? African football association didn't condemn Pantsil but were quick enough to condemn a sympathy statement. MPACUK: can we have a petition to these organisations condemning their actions I think it's about time.

What an absolutely class guy Abu Trika is in standing up for those being kicked by the Israelis. Muslims do more of this.
