The range of exhibitions held at the Museum range from pre-Raphaelite paintings to Digital Design. The Art Gallery is known for its racially diverse and multicultural exhibitions it has held in recent years. Exhibitions based on religious and cultural heritage and background grow on a yearly basis. Recently we received a direct request from one of the exhibition organisers who is seeking the help of Muslims based in Birmingham for input on an upcoming exhibition based around head coverings and hair. This is a great opportunity for local Muslims to discuss their customs and traditions and talk about their experiences with the hijab or even the hairpieces their parents wore when they first arrived in the UK. It is very rare that Muslims are asked to participate in such art projects so this is the perfect occasion to give Birmingham an insight into our way of life. Any contribution made will be acknowledged in the exhibition. If you would like to contribute your ideas please contact Liz Braby on 0121 303 0321 or email her on liz.braby@birmingham.gov.uk |
