You and Your MP: MPACUK interviews Clare Short Part 2 Print E-mail
Tuesday, 04 March 2008

clareprofile4.jpg Clare Short MP for Ladywood, in Birmingham, joins sisters Samina, Safia and Sabah from the MPACUK Birmingham Branch, to talk about issues affecting British Muslims today, from her experiences as a Birmingham born Catholic to her opinion on Palestine, Islamophobia, the importance of voting and her take on Bishop Ali-Nazir's comments on ‘no go areas’

Clare Short, a colourful figure throughout her career,
who always spoke out against the injustices happening in Palestine, served as Secretary of State for International Development from 1997 until her resignation from the Cabinet over the war in Iraq in 2003. In 2006, she resigned the Labour whip. She now sits as an Independent.

Clare Short is also the author of
the award winning book “An Honourable Deception? New Labour, Iraq, and the Misuse of Power”, published in an attempt to explain why Tony Blair did what he did on Iraq, to uphold the hope that lessons could be learned and things put right.

What a poodle Clare is for the anonymous international left that is incapable of perusading anything more than a handful of voters in any election in Britain. We are not fooled by the veil of democracy, freedom and human rights that you put up to hide the likes of lunatic organisations like Hamas, Hizbollah and the Taleban. Does Clare support Muslims - many of them women - who put their lives on the line opposing these lunatic groups? Not a word! No doubt, to her, they are just Uncle [or should I say Aunt] Toms. What shameful claptrap! Enough to make her leftish ancestors turn in their graves!

You seem very concerned about women? Perhaps you should be concerned about how certain religious sects in Israel are now beating women up in full view of the public if they sit in the front of a bus with men?

Colin,

get a grip, we have killed Hundreds of thousands of civilians and Israel has displaced millions.

Hamas and Hizbollah with hteir entire historical death rate would touch on a sinle year of Israels let alone Britans and America's.

Great follow up MPAC. You guys are on the ball.

Enjoyed the interview. If only more people would engage we wouldn't feel the alienation that we do in British society.

The figure is actually over 1 million dead for Iraq alone since 2003. So god only knows the real figure if you include Afghanistan, Palestine, Lebanon, Somalia (who have all suffered huge casualties either as a direct result of our aggression or those of our allies).

The biggest crimes against humanity in recent history have been carried out by our own government. How can anyone not be anything but completely and utterly ashamed and horrifed by that?

Thanks for this interview MPAC - Clare Short may have voted for the Iraq invasion but she has done more than nearly every other MP to speak out against the crimes of the Labour party ever since, and you can clearly see how much she deeply regrets that vote.
