| Israeli Minister Warns Of Palestinian 'Holocaust' |

A senior Israeli minister today warned of increasingly bitter conflict in the Gaza Strip and that the Palestinians would bring on themselves what he called a "holocaust". According to Reuters news agency, Matan Vilnai, Israel's deputy defence minister, used the Hebrew word for holocaust in an interview on Israeli army radio. The term is rarely used in Israel outside discussions of the Nazi genocide during the second world war. Many Israelis are loath to countenance it to describe other events. The minister's statement came after two days of tit-for-tat missile raids between Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip and the Israeli army. At least 32 Palestinians and one Israeli have been killed since the upsurge in violence on Wednesday. Today Israel activated a rocket warning system to protect Ashkelon, a city of 120,000 people, from Palestinian attacks. Ashkelon was hit by several Grad rockets fired from Gaza yesterday. One hit an apartment building, slicing through the roof and three floors below, and another landed near a school, wounding a 17-year-old girl. Located 11 miles from Gaza, Ashkelon had been sporadically targeted in the past but not suffered direct hits or significant damage. "It will be sad, and difficult, but we have no other choice," Vilnai said, referring to the large-scale military operation he said Israel was preparing to bring a halt to the rocket fire. "We're getting close to using our full strength. Until now, we've used a small percentage of the army's power because of the nature of the territory." Israel would not launch a ground offensive in the next week or two, partly because the military would prefer to wait for better weather, defence sources said. But the army has completed its preparations and has informed the government it is ready to move immediately the order is given, officials said. Until now, the Palestinian rocket squads have largely targeted Sderot, a small town near Gaza. Ashkelon, a big population centre only 25 miles from Tel Aviv, was caught unprepared, its mayor said on Friday. "It's a city of 120,000 people, with large facilities – a huge soccer stadium, a basketball stadium and a beach. No one is ready for this," Roni Mehatzri told Israel Radio. Dozens of soldiers in orange berets from the Israeli military's Home Front Command arrived in Ashkelon and hung posters around the city instructing residents on what to do in case of rocket attack. The barrage of Iranian-made Grads directed at Ashkelon yesterday came after an escalation of violence in Gaza. Israel killed five Hamas militants on Wednesday morning, apparently including two planners of the rocket attacks, in an air strike on a minivan. Later in the day, a Palestinian rocket killed an Israeli civilian, a 47-year-old father of four, in Sderot. Hamas, an Islamist group with close ties to Iran, has ruled Gaza since its violent takeover of power there in June 2006. Since Wednesday, 32 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli missile strikes, including 14 civilians, among them eight children, according to Palestinian officials. The youngest was a six-month-old boy, Mohammed al-Borai, whose funeral was held yesterday. There were further indications that Israel was preparing for an offensive by sending confidential messages to world leaders, including the US secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice, who plans to visit the region next week. "Israel is not keen on, and rushing for, an offensive, but Hamas is leaving us no choice," the Israeli defence minister, Ehud Barak, told the senior figures, according to Israel's mass circulation daily, Yedioth Ahronoth. Security sources were quoted by both Israel Radio and Army Radio as saying a big operation was being prepared but was not imminent. Source: The Guardian Readers have left 28 comments.

This is a mistranslation. Reuters is the source, and they have put put a correction: "Vilnai's spokesman said: ‘Mr. Vilnai was meaning “disaster”. He did not mean to make any allusion to the genocide.’ Israel's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Arye Mekel, added: ‘Deputy Defence Minister Matan Vilnai used the Hebrew phrase that included the term 'shoah' in Hebrew in the sense of a disaster or a catastrophe, and not in the sense of a holocaust.’"

The BBC were going with the headline of Israel warning of a holocaust.. that has now been changed to "Gaza Militants Risking Disaster" and the mention of the word "holocaust" has been removed from the article, save for one reference when the article says "they will bring upon themselves what he called a "shoah" - a Hebrew word for catastrophe, and for the Nazi Holocaust".
I wonder what prompted that reversal..

But MPAC and its supporters (Taz, 'You Muppet' etc. etc.) have been telling us that Israel has been subjecting the Palestinians to an endless holocaust, genocide, Auschwitz, mass rape and torture for years, so why is this news?
And why - see the earlier article - is MPAC asking the Nazi genocidal apartheid state of 'Israel' to recognise the Palestinians? Who would want recognition from such a state? You guys need to decide whether you want to exist in the real world - as strong, articulate supporters of the Palestinians, by all means - or in some fantasy realm as set out in the Hamas charter.

Holocaust?
The Israelis have already created a human holocaust in Gaza, and like paedophiles, they use the methods they learnt by being abused at the hands of the Nazis.

Time for Nuremberg Trials II
Bring the IDF Gorgons of Tel Aviv to face the court of World Opinion. The evil IDF beasts must be punished for their crimes against humanity. The UK Govt should immediately declare the (Waffen)IDF a terrorist organisation. Refuse visas to any person past or present who has taken any part in the Waffen IDF operations or planning. Dual citizens should be prosecuted for acts of terrorism abroad. Any British MP calling himself/herself 'Friend of Israel' should immediately be forced to renounce their allegiance to Israel, or resign their seats. They must be required to re-take their oath of allegiance to the Queen. The UK Govt must immediately require the publishing of names and addresses of all UK citizens who under the (dis)guise of dual citizenship intend to kill Palestinian civilians. These should be immeduately arrested and prosecuted for planning terrorist acts abroad. We already have Lebensraum, and now Holocaust: if the world doesn't act soon, what will these Monsters do next? Build concentration camps?

Rob - it's simple.
For years supporters of the Palestinians went on about 'the occupation'. Israel pulled out of Gaza and continued supplying it with food, electricity etc. The Gazans started firing rockets at Israel and have done so every day since the Israeli pull out. The rockets are getting bigger and more frequent. Israel has been reacting to the indiscriminate targetting of its citizens by targeting the squads firing the rockets and the workshops making them. At some stage, if the intensification continues, they will undertake a ground campaign. You all know this in your heart of heart. You have realised that actually the last thing you want is the end of the occupation - hence the endless provocations by Hamas, basically inviting Israel back in. With the end of the occupation (and remember that, before the rockets, Kadimah had a platform of unilaterlly pulling out of most of the West Bank) the Palestinians face the horror of grown up state building. It's so much easier to force the Israelis back in so you can revert to the victimology, the wailing about nazis, genocide, etc. etc. And for the MPACs of this world, the wailing and the false genocide talk (so much more comforting that worrying about the real genocides in the Muslim world) it's a great way to try to knit together a disparate Ummah, just as anti semitism knitted together a disparate German right in the 1920s and 1930s. In the end, it will damage Muslims and most of all the Palestinians.

In the article above this one you refer to a BBC report that correctly states that the word 'shoah' means disaster. It does NOT mean holocaust. "The Holocaust" is also referred to as "The Shoah" to indicate a specific Holocaust and a specific shoah. This is the only link you can make between the words 'shoah' and 'holcaust' when they refer to the same single act known as The Holocaust.

The Zionist spin machine is trying to use the mistranslation excuse. They claim Shoah merely means catastrophe rather than Holocaust although it does of course mean erm Holocaust as in the film "Shoah" a film about the er Nazi Holocaust strangely enough. They want to excuse the new Holocaust.
The apologists such a Melanie Phillips and Brian Klug are merely apologists for a new holocaust and are the new Nazis. “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it...". They would have made Goebbels proud.

I am confused and bemused!
Muslims love to bang on and on about the horrors committed by the Izraelis - even though these are brought about by the endless indiscriminate rocket attacks launched on Izrael by the Palestinians, with over 90% of the palestinans supporting these rocket attacks. Yet, at the same time in Dafur muslims are murdering everyone in sight, yet no grand campaign against this! No calls for muslim warlords to be put on trial. And today muslims there have launched an even bigger murder campaign and the refugee crisis is spiralling out of control No doubt the wicked west will be expected to provide for these refugees, and try and stop the killing. You lot are just hopeless.

Know why its called the Gaza Strip? — K. UrbanBecause the Israelis have stripped humanity of its rights. Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza. They gave the Palestinians there, room to organise things for themselves. The Palestinians could have used the opportunity to show the world that they could make a peaceful state that could live in harmony with its neighbours. Instead they instantly voted for a Hamas administration. Hamas used the Gaza handover as an opportunity to launch suicide bombers and rockets without the interference of the Israeli Army. We have strong border controls in the UK. There is no automatic right of transit across any border and many borders in peaceful countries are securely policed walls. Ask yourself this: with a 100% certainty that multiple suicide bombings will be aimed directly at their civilians, why the bleeding hell should Israel allow free unfettered transit etc.? You may have your own reasons for wanting loads of dead Israelis, but don't act surprised that Israel doesn't want this. The answer to this problem lays - as it always has - with the Palestinians. If they continue to be a threat, they'll continue to be treated as a threat. If they embrace peace, decommission their paramilitaries and stop the death cult indoctrination, they will get peace in response. Just like Egypt did, when Saddat said "no more war, no more bloodshed".

What an interesting argument! At last the Israelis have begun to establish an element of symmetry in their dialogue to that of the Palestinians. The democratically elected Hamas party proposes the quite literal Shoah in the Levant upon those Jews, Bahai's and Buddhists that live there. Oddly although MPACUK is admirably committed to non-violent jihad it has yet to level any significant criticism towards its co-religionists in Hamas. Unfortunately Hamas' intention to carry out an existential and genocidal war against the Zionist state and its inhabitants effectively legitimises a symetrical response.
It is time to apply a consistent set of values when evaluating and criticising the participants in this seemingly endless conflict. Not to do so simply prolongs the suffering on both sides and deepens the animosity.

To all those pro-Zionist supporters of the massacare that is being perpetrated in Gaza:
Zionists, including those who have posted on this board, mendaciously blame the victims (Palestinians) of the occupation , for their crimes, going to any lengths to justify them. However we can debunk their lies: 1. Firstly Israel refused to talk with Hamas, the elected government of Palestine and preferred to try and split the 'Palestinian authority' (with the support of the Quartet powers), so as to deal with Fatah (which has effectively usurped power). 2. Israel and the Quartet imposed a blockade/sa ctions on Gaza, from the very beginning, which caused the collapse of the 'Palestinian Authority', against the will of the Palestinian people who had elected a popular government, thereby demonstrating the hypocrisy of Western policy in the Middle East. 3.The idea that Israel is 'under threat' from Hamas is laughable, Israel is a nuclear power with one of the strongest armed forces in the world (though this claim is probably weak now after they received a bloody nose in Lebanon in 2006), indeed in response to the death of one individual it has slaughtered 100 in a matter of days through indiscriminate bombardment in Gaza. Let us not forget history, it is the Zionists who through their occupation and ethnic cleansing of Palestine carved out their entity in the region, and then cried out that whenever their oppression was resisted that they would be 'wiped out', a despicable attempt to justify their crimes. The only 'Palestine' the Zionists will ever accept is a moth eaten refugee camp (Gaza and the West Bank), wholly dependant on Israel for its survival. The real solution is the unification of these lands in one state where Jews, Christians and Muslims can live together as its citizens, in peace.

Before the establishment of the Jewish homeland, Muslims, Jews and Christians all lived together in tranquility. However, we find that today it is more than improbable for these three peoples to live together. It reminds me of a saying, History repeats itself, first time as tragedy, second time as farce. The Holocaust was a traumatic experience for the Jews, a tragedy to the world. Now the illegitimate occupation of Palestine has become somewhat a farce issue to the powerful leaders of the world. They dont care about the Palestinians welfare, they are merely a marginalised people, who have been subjected to a charade of evil and deciet. We were devestated by the Holocaust. But, one thing i would like to say is let us not be hostile towards Israel or Jew. Some Jews are very sincere in their beliefs, if we all blame each other we will never form cohesion as a whole people in the world.
