| Shocker: Sleeping Leaders Actually Do Something! |

We were not gob smacked because of the ferocity of the attack - that’s something MPACUK has steeled itself to be prepared for. Instead, what was so surreal was how the very so-called ‘practicing’ leadership of this country’s Muslim groups had actually slept through the whole thing. The biggest mouths in Britain, always teaching their zombie-like, unthinking students to spout off about Shariah, were the first ones to run and hide as the storm raged. The so-called practicing cliques, too, were nowhere to be seen. No loudmouth student emirs, no over-pious, self-proclaimed ‘practicing Muslims’. It was as if they were all collectively hiding under the same rock, or more likely, attending the same talk on Shariah, so they didn’t even know what the real world was doing. Where were they? It’s almost a case for the X Files! I mean, how hypocritical can you be, all day and night these cults teach their followers how great Shariah is, and then Shariah gets attacked, and they all shut up and hope no one can see them! What were the so-called scholars doing? Sticking their fingers in their great wise ears and saying ‘LALALALALA’ really loud, so they could not hear the world’s media attack their very teaching. Reminds me of that old bloke who sometimes appears on Islam TV, ‘the one who thinks TV is haraam’ unless he is appearing on it. What was he going to talk about this week: ‘the permissibility of nail varnish’? There is simply no excuse for it - these leaders and their followers sucked, and they can’t pretend they didn’t. They have never done a single thing to defend the Ummah, and now they went further and hid while Islam was attacked. We have to congratulate them, ‘Great work lads, another day ignorance is another day of bliss, you guys are always sticking your neck out for Islam, if only everyone could do as little as you lot, the world would be a better place.’ But it’s not all bad news. Some groups are actually starting to do something. A bit like the ‘Ents’ (tree people) in the Lord of the Rings, take years, decades of discussion over minor issues before they so anything, even small things – ask any hobbit they will tell you, but it seems they are on the move, and so we shouldn’t complain. A clutch of Muslim groups were going to Downing Street to demand Muslims be left alone. Groups as well known as ‘The Council of European Jamaats’ (this always reminds me of Patel’s corner shop putting international at the end of their name because it made them feel like they were the new Microsoft’ ) and it gets better - World Federation of KSIMC, World Islamic Mission! Anyone would have thought the whole Muslim world was going to be mobilised! Added to these names were groups that had pretty much failed to achieve anything, even in the field they were in. For example, ‘FOSIS’ (read: we won’t do anything for anyone unless it’s a prayer room and Muslim Brotherhood who we are secretly all members of). So why are we not cheering and wishing them well? After all they are doing something, which is better then nothing. Well, because we have seen it all before. They hype the little piece of nothing that they actually do for the Ummah as if it was the world’s greatest deed, and then for the next 5 years go to sleep again. We are sure more then a few people will be upset about this comment piece, but come on, be honest, can you honestly say the majority of these groups bar a few have done anything to help and protect the community in this very difficult time, apart from the odd throwaway comment? Respect for groups is earned, not given for free and currently most of these groups don’t deserve any. Doing a little walk to Downing Street every five years is simply not enough. This is MPAC at it's best - iconoclastic in your respect for the truth. Thank God someone has the courage to speak these truths, because our traditional leaders have their heads in the sand while the threat of a new genocide against Muslims looms ever closer over Europe.
Remember Bosnia.

I completely agree with you. I didn't see any other organisation appearing in the media to put up a coherent response to the 'Shariah Hysteria'. In a way I'm glad that they didn't: they would all have been men and almost certainly wouldn't have spoken intelligible English. Full marks to MPAC for putting forward women to speak on behalf of the Ummah. Also their strenous efforts to get Muslims to vote and stand for elections is crucial, and must be applauded. Let's all hope that MPAC succeeds in its objectives.

A lot of these mosques are pensioner’s clubs where, despite assurances to us, things have not changed for a multitude of years.
Most of the lectures in the main hall are still in Urdu, or some other overseas language, in order to cater for the oldies. If they are in English the words are often not pronounced properly. Non-stop prayers, yet no real practical advice on how to deal with the very real problems that face Muslims, especially teenagers and the young. And then to help them along with their health, the bored but polite children come out of the Mosque to a mushroom cloud of smoke from hardened old men tobacco ‘junkies’. Some Mosques even had ‘smokers corners’ inside the mosques, which prompted a Muslim Canadian visitor to dryly ask if they also had a 'snogging' corner. All this indicates a lack of acceptance of our problems, a sense that somehow the problems are a test from God and will soon blow over, and an unwillingness to show consideration to, and prepare our children for, the future. I suggest you stop your funds and subscriptions to these mosques until they listen to you and sharpen up. And fast.

i concur with comments above there are far too many so called practicing Muslims that strangely fall quiet when they should be vocal in defending Islam and Muslims but they seem to think being insular and keeping their head down is a better tactic...on;u mpacuk differ in this approach altho i have to say a vigil was organised today outside Downing st however since it wasnt advertised on mpacuk site or any other main site i found out too late why werent you guys part of it?

This is a great article by MPAC.
When the whole hysteria started, I was most annoyed at the comments made by many people in the media. I could not believe how ignorant people could be. Its also really annoying that we have people who are there to speak on behalf of Muslims, yet no-one was actually there to stand up for us during this time. Where I work, I got very angry with customers who actually went out and bought newspapers that were tarnishing Sharia law and made an issue with the customers themselves. Not a wise move I must admit but I thought people should know. I haven't been able to go out and make a racket on the tv or radio but I have written a very angry e-mail at the editor of the Daily Mirror. It was all I could do given the time I had. Anyway, Does anyone know the contact of the main newspaper/media ombudsman who I can complain to for presenting such lies?

INBRED?
I never read that term being used anywhere as an insult. However, in modern English usage, I accept that it would generally be used in a derogatory sense. Nevertheless, the articles I read made reference to medical research, where I would expect the term to be used in its literal sense. If the research is flawed fine, then challenge it. But a racist attack? I think that depends on how the information was presented in the media, not on the subject of the research.

MPACUK was left speechless over the last few weeks when a barrage of attacks slammed into the Muslim community, from calls that Shariah was about to take over Britain to Ministers coming out, calling Muslims ‘inbred’.
