Thanks MPAC for an interesting interview. Lets see how many Brummie Muslims take up the challenge and start working with mainstream political parties.

Nice interview, the questions hard and the answers good, we need to ask all of our MP's these questions. I like the way this guy argued against detention without trial.

nice American and Turkish examples

top interview MPACUK.
nice one taking Tony Blair to task. Unbelievable that a pro Israeli should be given the role of peace envoy.

Good interview.

One question: why get politically active for the Ummah, and not for all people?

Is this not prejudiced?

The word Ummah is not exclusive to Muslims but covers all humanity as a brotherhood. We believe everyone is born on the right path but can get distanced from God's true guidance.

The Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (Peace be upon him)was a prophet for humankind and everyone is part of his Ummah.

Btw, briliant Initiative MPAC. Its nice to see Muslims working within the political system and with their local MPs for issues other than Visas and mosque building.

Well done MPACUK - you really are setting the standard to demonstrate how British Muslims can engage with mainstream politics.

John makes some very good points about communities engaging with the government, surely a clear sign to muslims to flex their political muscle if they want to see positive change in the country...

excellent work MPACUK, Hemmings argument against detention without trial is both logical and compelling..

Excellent Interview MPACUK!

Well done for raising issues important to Muslims with our elected representatives. Only through initiatives like this will Muslims become more involved in the democratic process.

Very interesting.

As a comparison, maybe you could interview a MP that's not as friendly towards Muslims as John Hemming?

John Hemming seems like the kind of MP Muslims should be supporting - it's great to see he is making the effort to engage with Muslims through organisations like MPACUK.
