Eid Mubarak! The sacrifice we do during the Beautiful day of Eid ul
Adha is of a ritualistic beauty that remembers and retells the story of
the Prophet Ibrahim (asl) and how he prayed for years for a son and
when he got one Allah asked Ibrahim and his wife Hajar in a dream to
Sacrifice their son for the the sake of Allah.
That sacrifice was not a
blood offering to a petty god, but a test of faith, a real sacrifice, a
sacrifice that could and would break many people. Allah in his mercy at
the moment of truth replaced Ismael with a sheep and so to this day
Muslims sacrifice sheep and distribute the meat in Allah’s name and
Ibrahim’s (asl) memory.
However Ibrahim (asl) Ismael (asl) and Hajar (asl) all stood up and accepted the sacrifice, The ritual has become symbolic of the act, but what of the act of sacrificing itself, what of the sacrifice in Allah’s way to give respite to the poor, to pay for a Muslim Lobby Group, to stand up against injustice. What sacrifice are we willing to make? On Eid are we willing to miss the family feast, miss seeing our children so that others peoples children, the children of strangers are not persecuted? Are you willing to sacrifice a months salary so that a Muslim lobby can take on and fight the millions that Zionists donate to demonise Muslims? Are you willing to stand in the cold and ensure that injustice is stood up too? Or has the Sacrifice become nothing more then an opportunity to spend time with your family and eat mutton. Eid is a time to celebrate, and it is a reminder to us all that human beings only progress when they are willing to sacrifice where it matters. Salam and Eid Mubarak ! Eid Muabark to all Muslims everywhere.
Assalaam walaikum I would like to know what MPACuk and other 'intelligent' Muslims are going to do about some Mosques who have made it their task to disagree with the Arabs whenever the Arabs have told them that HAJJ is going to fall on a particular day. In OXFORD, like elsehwere I'm sure, we have a Mosque which persistantly defers EID by one day despite the fact that the 2 other Mosques do it a day after HAJJ. So, we have a situation where one set of Muslims have observed EID-Ul ADHA on Wednesday (day after HAJJ) and another set of Muslims who are doing it on Thursday (2 days after HAJJ). This inevitably means that one set of Muslim School children take Holidays on one day, and another on another day. Much to the bewilderment (and amusement) of teachers and the non-Muslims. So much for UNITY then ? I would like to ask the Mosque Commitees (and their 'flock) that openly and persistantly disagree with the arabs decision of the day of HAJJ that 1) Are you suggesting that the arabs have picked HAJJ on the wrong day ?. That they (the arabs) are incompetent in these affairs and they pick the day of HAJJ though dubious means ? If so, are you actually telling people that millions of Muslim HAJJIs have had their HAJJ invalidated because they did it on the wrong day ? That is in effect what they are suggesting when they say the arabs got the HAJJ day wrong. 2) What do the imams and their 'flock' do (those who pesistantly say that the arabs do hajj on the wrong day) when they themselves go to HAJJ Do they tell the arabs that they are doing it on the wrong day and so I am going to do it the folllowing day (Oh...please do, because I would like to see what the Arabs do to you) or do they accept and join in ? They join in. The HYPOCRYPTS. These Imans and Mosque committees telling Muslims that the arabs are doing HAJJ and thus EID-UL ADHA on the wrong day (when they are outside of Saudia Arabia) but joining in the HAJJ when they go to pilgrimmage themselves. Practice what you preach. As for myself, convincing such imans and mosque committes that damage that they are doing, falls on deaf ears. The only thing they say is "shut up...you wahabi". Funny, the last time I looked I was a practicing "Hanafi". And there lies the problem. They are so engrossed with their "village" mentality, and think just because they have grown old and have a beard that somehow they are 'learned Muslims' and can tell people what is right. Try and convince them otherwise, then you are labelled a Wahabi. Seems. "wahabi" is a way of ending the conversation. Wasalaams and EID Mubarak.
