Letter from the Public to MPACUK Print E-mail
Sunday, 02 December 2007

287763_beauty_of_writing.jpgHello. I am not Muslim, but I have since childhood greatly respected the Muslims I have known. Islam I think, and I mean no disrespect, is being damaged by Muslims without the imagination to move forward into the modern world. Yes, it is a scary place and FAR from perfect, but it is our reality. ONLY Muslims can move Islam forward. That can't and shouldn't be imposed from outside. Your stand on the absurdity of the Gibbons issue will be, I hope, a beacon for others to follow. Thank you. Irene

Irene, what you have respected as a youngster was probably like all Non- Muslims, the elderly Muslim folk that lived next door - who would give you a taste of Asian food or would smile at you as you went into their garden etc etc. Let me tell you something of my childhood as a Muslim in this country - being hounded by skinheads and NF (National front) when in schools always be bullied by white teachers, on the streets having to put up with racist Police officers - and as I grew up the people were the same but their tactics changed - now what we got is instead of it happening on the streets I grew up as a child but in countries that I never heard of and people that I never knew existed. And you know the difference between me then and me now - its quite simple - I've moved forward - I'm not like that Muslim you used to respect - i'm the Muslim of the future - who stands up to the bullying and teaches my kids - how to stand up for their rights - and you know what to imagine is for someone who thinks up something from nothing - I on the other hand remembers the following quote ...
"I don't want to be a product of my environment - I want my environment to be a product of me" And that is what frightens you - but then you have grown up having experienced what I and others have faced - So please don't talk about respect - those who respect don't disrespect what they have initially respected - like me - I respect Jesus, Moses, David, and all the other Prophets - but I will not move into a world that doesn't recognise The Prophet of Islam (PBUH) as the Final Messenger - even if they believe in the One God.

thanks Irene,

we (Muslims) are the only ones who can change our situation and ensure that absurdity cannot be projected as Islam.

However as a human your support and objective is important.

I am a first time visitor to this site. I came to check it out following all the negative publicity for Islam recently.

I'm afraid comments like the one above from "Islamic Torch", prompt people to wonder what on earth he or she is doing living in this hell hole - would you not be happier living in a nice islamic state like Iran or Pakistan or even Sudan. Your obvious hatred of the kuffar would do them credit!
