Saleh Hassan, who lives on the West Bank, says his land was confiscated by Israel to make way for its barrier. He claims Israel uses military equipment bought in Britain to repress Palestinians which, he says, violates their human rights. Israel says the barrier is necessary to prevent acts of terrorism. Mr Hassan, who lives in Bethlehem, claims that Israel used military equipment to bulldoze his farm and confiscate his land in 2005 to allow the construction of what he calls its "annexation wall". He will argue that the UK sale of arms-related equipment to Israel breaks laws that prohibit the export of military equipment to countries where there is a clear risk they might be used for internal repression or the violation of fundamental freedoms. Mr Hassan will cite a call by the International Court of Justice for the wall to be dismantled. The Israeli government says the West Bank barrier is a security measure to stop suicide bombers. Critics say the structure is part of an effort to annex occupied land. The International Court of Justice has argued that the barrier should not be allowed to become Israel's new border because it would constitute the expansion of Israeli territory by force. On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told Israeli MPs he would devote the next year to pursuing peace with the Palestinians. The Palestinian leadership of Mahmoud Abbas was serious about reaching a deal, he added. Source: BBC News Readers have left 7 comments.

According to a recent study, 90% of Muslims killed in conflict in the last 50 years have been killed by other Muslims and 0.3% by Israelis. MPAC's obsession on the subject of Israel and its use of pictures of injured children always and only in the context of Israel - even when the story is not about casualities - is difficult to understand in this context.
Why does not the death rate from Muslim-on-Muslim violence - which is nearly 300 times higher than Israel-on-Palestinian - seem to trouble MPAC in the slightest?

That is a BBC article. If you have issue with it why not ask them?

With all this focus on Israel my question is "What have the Palestinians done that allows the 1.2m Arab Israelis to (allegedly) treat them so badly?"
Where are the complaints from their Muslim brothers about how they are 'occupying' Palestinian land?

JWD is a Zionist and therefore a stranger to the truth. Don't worry about Muslims JWD. Deal with the Zionist occupation first and yes Britain was complicit in starting the illegal occupation of Palestine and helping arm and train the Zionist terror groups who eventually turned on the British. They also helped the Zionists ethnically cleanse Palestine while preventing the Palestinians from resisting. The cycle of violence was thus started. Britain also conspired with the Israelis in the Suez plot. To this day they help arm and finance the Zionist terror machine.

It doesn't mean I mustn't exercise compassion it just means 'don't worry'. There is nothing to worry about. Nothing we aren't on top of. I see Britain comes in for a bit of a bashing. Well, I say bashing but really its just empty mantras from page 17 of your manual. To be honest there are so many errors in your mantra that it becomes Pythonesque. I share the humour. Was it deliberate?

I don't have a problem with this story, but I do have a problem with MPAC's focus and use of pictures of injured children.
Let's assume the report is right - that in the last 50 years, 0.3% of Muslims deaths in conflict have been caused by Israel and 90% by other Muslims. Let's assume also that MPAC's coverage of Israeli violence on Muslims is fifty times as much as its coverage of Muslim on Muslim violence. (I think this is very fair to MPAC. I think I once read a vague article on Sudan, saying it was complex. On this basis, a Palestinian Muslim casualty at the hands of Israel appears to be more than 16,000 (100/0.3 X 50) times more important to MPAC than a Muslim suffering at the hands of another Muslim in a conflict. Of course I expect MPAC to support the Palestinians and of course it would be absurd to expect strict proportionality of coverage. But 16,000 times! Could this be a case of slightly getting something out of proportion? Only a suggestion.

Yesterday a 5-year old Palestinian child was killed. MPAC UK are always covering Palestinian child deaths.
However, this child was killed by the PA who fired on his father too, killing both.

A 60-year-old Palestinian will begin a case against the UK government in the High Court later when he will say that sales of arms to Israel are illegal.
