Forgotten Journalist - New Online Citizen Journalism Concept for Muslims Print E-mail
Sunday, 30 September 2007

tech.jpg In this information age, the internet has proven to be a fast, easily accessible and effective tool of communication. In a world, where a handful controls the majority of the media, the internet has allowed for a plethora of alternate views to surface. Similarly, a new alternative media source has appeared on the Internet horizons – Forgotten Journalist.

Having launched on 17th September, ForgottenJournalist.com is the latest hub of information. Forgottenjournalist.com is an online Citizen Journalistic concept for Muslims, allowing Muslims across the globe to express their own personal points of view on the world in which we live in through active participation as Muslim World Citizens.

So what exactly is Citizen Journalism? Citizen Journalism allows you, the everyday individual from across the globe to play an active role in the process of reporting and disseminating news and information. Albeit, Citizen Journalism is all around us, yet many of us do not realize its existence or importance. The increasingly popular medium of blogging sites amongst youth, is one such example of citizen journalism, similarly online forums, consumer reports or everyday newsletters are all forms of citizen journalism. The beauty of citizen journalism is that ANYONE can be a citizen Journalist, irrespective of age, education, professional qualifications, ethnicity, religion, political affiliations, etc

ForgottenJournalist.com aims to promote Citizen Journalism by allowing Muslims to contribute news articles via the Internet, in what will become an on-line news platform contributed entirely by Muslims globally and the subject matter ranging from politics, to arts, to science. You, the citizen journalist, determine the article and its content! The aim is to become an alternative media platform for Muslims, the content of which will be contributed entirely by ordinary Muslims across the world.

"Our aim is to be able to challenge the mainstream media with views of Muslim citizens across the globe, free of commercial and political biases which currently constrain news reporters tied to the traditional elite corporations. Forgottenjournalist.com envisions to provide a platform for the world view through a Muslim individuals lens" - Assad Khan (Founder & Editor of Forgotten Journalist).

The site's holding page is currently up, which explains the concept in more detail, and also allows users to submit articles & photo journalism to make the first edition, which will go live on 13th October 2007.

Any questions or comments can be directed at the FJ team at
contact@forgottenjournalist.com for general enquiries, or you may contact the Founder & Editor directly at assad@forgottenjournalist.com.

MPACUK look forward to their upcoming new website and wish them well. Check out the latest hub of information now:  www.ForgottenJournalist.com
