A pig's head has been nailed to the door of a former Methodist chapel which is being converted into an Asian community centre. Police are treating the incident at Quenchwell, near Carnon Downs, Cornwall, as a racist attack.
The non-negotiables in any democratic society must be the prohibition on torture, the right to dissent, the right to privacy, freedom of speech, no detention without charge and being innocent until proven guilty. If we slowly dismantle these freedoms in the name of combating radical Islamists then we will eventually end up with a state that may well resemble one they would happily set up.
Imagine the shock-horror: Barack Obama attends the conference of an organisation whose former officials face trial for spying on the United States! It would be all over the blogs, except that John McCain and Hillary Clinton were attending the AIPAC conference this week in Washington DC as well, pandering to the lobby that will get you accused of anti-Semitism if you quote its own website about its power.
On Wednesday 11th June 2008, MP's will vote on plans
to detain terror suspects for 42 days without charge. The UK already
has the longest period of pre-charge detention in the western world,
and there is no evidence that a further extension will make us any
safer.
"There is no more fundamental principle of liberty than that men and
women should not be locked up without being allowed their day in
court." Do not let the Government take away our civil liberties - take

On June 2nd the Irish Independent reported that Labour T.D. Ruairi Quinn said "Irish girls do not wear headscarves" and he also advocated "assimilation" - in other words, a forced removal of cultures not considered Irish. In case that wasn't enough, Ruairi Quinn T.D. went on to make denigrating inferences regarding immigrants. Of course, his good friend, Brian Hayes (who is Fine Gael's spokesperson) didn't want to be beaten so he decided to warn of the dangers of multiculturalism.
MPACUK Comment: The usually excellent Jason Burke hits the nail on the head yet again. Mr Burke seems to approach the subject of extremism with a rare air of someone who is actually trying to discover the truth rather than the numerous commentators out there who seem to have some sort of political axe to grind.
MPACUK Comment: There should be no such thing as a ‘no-go area’ in Britain for anyone. Birmingham is vibrant multi-faith city and people of faith in particular, should always be considerate and cordial to one another. There are rumours that Christians are specifically targeting Muslims to convert them. This initiative, if true, will undoubtedly raise tension between the communities. It would be no different if Muslims stood outside a church or cathedral trying to convert Christians. Birmingham’s Muslims and Christians should remember their common values instead of engaging in a pointless numbers game.
The original headline of the following article from The Telegraph is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attacks Jews at UN food summit in Rome. This deliberate blurring of the definitions of Zionism and Judaism is a common Zionist propaganda technique which makes it easier to smear Isreal's critics as anti-Semitic.
