This letter written by a Jewish group serves as a reminder that not all those of the Jewish faith were behind the actions of Israel; an perhaps depicts a more balanced picture of Jewish public opinion. "...A group of us marched at the Stop the War demonstration in Edinburgh on
Saturday past under the banner of Scottish Jews for a Just Peace,
calling for an immediate ceasefire, and were proud to do so....a dialogue
that opens up real potential towards tackling preconceived ideas and
views..." (excerpt).

The Rupert Murdoch-owned Fox News Network and The Weekly Standard, as well as the Washington Times, which is controlled by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church, and the neoconservative New York Sun, have consistently and with increasing frequency framed the challenges faced by Washington in the region in the context of the rise of fascism and Nazism in the 1930s, according to a search of the Nexis database by IPS.

An architect of Iraqi descent has said he was forced to remove a T-shirt that bore the words "We will not be silent" before boarding a flight at New York. Mr Jarrar said he was told a number of passengers had complained about his T-shirt - apparently concerned at what the Arabic phrase meant - and asked him to remove it.

The Government reacts tetchily to suggestions that British foreign policy has anything to do with the rise in radicalism among young Muslims. When Muslim leaders wrote an open letter a fortnight ago suggesting just that, Foreign Office minister Kim Howells and Home Secretary John Reid fell over one another to condemn the comments as "irrational" and " facile". The Communities minister, Phil Woolas, has taken up the baton at Bolton Wanderers Football Club, dismissing a young Muslim woman's views as "a load of crap".

The term `Islamofascist’ is utterly without meaning, but packed with emotional explosives. It is a propaganda creation worthy Dr. Goebbles, and the latest expression of the big lie technique being used by neocons in Washington’s propaganda war against its enemies in the Muslim World. This ugly term was coined - as was the other hugely successful propaganda term, `terrorism’ – to dehumanize and demonize opponents and deny them any rational political motivation, hence removing any need to deal with their grievances and demands.

It is a meeting that could avert a clash of civilisations - conflict between Iran and America. If it goes ahead in the coming days, it would be a momentous and poignant encounter between two former presidents which could help Iran and the US overcome three decades of mutual hostility. The former American president Jimmy Carter has agreed in principle to meet the former Iranian president Mohamed Khatami who arrives in the United States today.

Ken Loach, the acclaimed British director and winner of this year's Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival has declared in a personal statement his support of ‘the call by Palestinian film-makers, artists and others to boycott state sponsored Israeli cultural institutions and urge[s] others to join their campaign’. He announced that he would not take part in the ‘Haifa Film Festival or any other such occasions’, a clear statement of his intent to boycott Israeli film festivals, and an acknowledgment of the fact that ‘Palestinians are driven to call for this boycott after forty years of the occupation of their land, destruction of their homes and the kidnapping and murder of their civilians’.

MPACUK is expanding all over the country. Historically most of its members were from London, however our work to protect Muslim civil liberties, both here and around the world, led MPACUK to campaign up and down the country. This has resulted in calls from members of the public expressing an interest in helping MPACUK to set up in their own areas.
