In light of the current rise of Islamophobia it is now an important time for Muslim students to adopt an active approach on campus. The Leeds Metropolitan University Islamic Society has initiated a campaign with the help of the Student Union to do this. As Muslims we are commanded to forbid the wrong and enjoin with the good; we are indeed the ambassadors of Islam and this needs to be implemented across campus. Here are some examples of practical solutions that we believe will yield maximum results.

Women Welcome Rejection of Haram Prayer Proposal

JEDDAH, 12 September 2006 — Saudis and expatriates have welcomed the decision taken by the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques Affairs to reject a proposal to shift the women’s prayer area in the mataaf (circumambulation area around the Holy Kaaba). The presidency has also decided to allocate 53 percent of the Grand Mosque to female worshippers.

Khalid Mahmood MP for Perry Barr Birmingham was one of the six parliamentary Private Secretaries who quit their posts soon after Junior Defence Minister Tom Watson MP resigned because Blair has not "ended the uncertainty" over when he intends to step down. Just to remind you, this is the MP who thought that the Iraq war was an inconvenience to his diary, as he abstained from voting against it.

"My fellow American," Howard Friedman, President of AIPAC, begins his letter of July 30 to friends and supporters of AIPAC, "Look what you've done"! After warning that "Israel is fighting a pivotal war for its life," by which he means Israel's wanton slaughter and all-out destruction in Lebanon, Freiedman condemns "the expected chorus of international condemnation of Israel's actions" and Europe's call for "a cease-fire immediately." Then he exults: "only ONE nation in the world came out and flatly declared: Let Israel finish the job.
