Residents local to Mount Cricket Club, in West Yorkshire, and long time supporters of the cricket club have been in contact with MPACUK about the club’s recent decision to play an Israeli cricket team in an upcoming tour of the region.
Numerous people have raised concerns about the decision to partner up with Zionist organisations who are supportive of Israel’s continued occupation of Palestinian land.
The club is choosing to ignore these concerns and still go ahead with the cricket match against a cricket team in Israel.
MPACUK have also been informed that even sponsors who have asked for the club to take an ethical stance have been ignored. Why is the club choosing Israel over local residents and sponsors?
In an act of true insensitivity to the worsening political situation for Palestinians, the club decided to promote images of their trip to Israel on the same day that Al-Aqsa Mosque was forcibly closed by the Israeli army.
Images of the trip were circulated on WhatsApp and other social media platforms, which have been passed on to MPACUK:
One local who contacted us, and wishes to remain anonymous, told MPACUK: “Mount cc are going against local public opinion to go ahead with this cricket tour. I consider them as Zionist and terrorist sympathisers. This tour should not go ahead or we will boycott Mount cc and all their sponsors”
Contact Mount Cricket Club to explain why they are choosing to normalise Israel’s occupation of Palestine.
Why is the club choosing to ignore the effective BDS movement and pleas from local residents to take an ethical stance and not support Israel?
Contact the club’s Vice Chair, Yusuf Kayat, on 07976 786678
You can also contact the club on:

Please share this with your family and friends so that the cricket club understands just how strongly people feel about the club’s decision to support Israel – if enough people contact them they may still change their minds.
